SOUTH AFRICA OIL SPILL AFTERMATH!!
A Cape gannet swims in a recovery pool at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds in Cape Town. African Penguins and Cape gannets are amongst the seabirds being rehabilitated following an oil spill due to the wreck of a Turkish coal bulk carrier which ran aground in September 2009. Salvage operations in 2009 failed to remove all the oil, resulting in leakage during rough sea conditions.
